![]() Sun 7th Jun I can totally see your point and I believe that our different opinions actually stem from similar premises.Because my gaming time is limited with a full time job and marriage, I would rather spend my time in a good story then in a dull, but beautiful environment.īut I know that preferences are different (thank God, how boring would the world be if everyone likes the same stuff? Beside beer, everyone likes beer!) They set a standard with their water, weather and what so on effects, but never delivered story or fun wise. As a long time PC gamer, I have seen my share of tech demos which were sold as full price games. This is also something, which makes a good game for me. In terms of fun and joy, these two games are still brilliant, therefore I'm happy to overlook the cons. But I also realize it's not possible with this hardware. I would love to have higher fps and better resolution for Switcher and XCDE. Sun 7th Jun that's totally ok for you as a consumer! In the end, we shouldn't really care about how much effort goes into the product, because we as a consumer just care about the outcome/final product.I really want to believe the game is like NL says, but there is too much evidence that it's not. Also not pointing out things like loading times and not a single time mentioning the sudden pop up of enemies or groups of people is strange. Then it's hard to take the rest of the review seriously. To be honest, if you take these sentences and then watch some YouTube videos, you actually wonder what version they were playing. There are virtually no framerate issues even in the most chaotic battles or wide-open spaces and, even though the graphics have been hugely dialled down, there's still plenty of detail in environments and NPCs look almost as good here as they do on other platforms. In combat, amazingly, no matter how heated things get, we didn't notice any slowdown at all in handheld the game feels smooth and compares favourably to other versions in this respect. We didn't notice any real bumps in the framerate in portable, although in docked mode there is the odd stutter which seems to occur when the game is autosaving or loading into a new area. In terms of this Switch port, Virtuos has done an excellent job of keeping to its target 30fps for the majority of the experience. Sun 7th Jun the only thing I actually would criticize about the NL review is the fact that they said the game runs stable 30fps and they didn't notice any fps drops.A dynamic resolution scaling system has been implemented to keep the experience as smooth as possible, but there are still noticeable drops in pixel counts. In terms of resolution, the entire collection on Switch targets 1080p docked and 720p in portable mode. On top of that, there are big improvements to image quality thanks to running it all at higher resolutions. Performance locks to 30fps almost permanently, only blighted by occasional irregularities in frame-pacing. In fact, it terms of overall consistency, Switch is significantly better. Whereas the current-gen consoles get a presentation that targets 60 frames per second, Switch runs at 30fps - effectively on par with the last-gen versions at their best. So, how does it compare to the existing versions on other platforms? Digital Foundry's Thomas Morgan recently had a look and found the only real compromise in the Virtuos Switch port is the frame rate - reducing the game from 60fps to 30fps. ![]() This remastered collection for Switch includes BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite. ![]() ![]() Last week, for the first time ever, the BioShock series made its debut on a Nintendo platform.
